The Rocky Bay part of Waiheke is an enclave of original Waihekeans with lots of bush and bird song… well off the beaten track. From our dress circle position on the hillside, we look out directly over Omiha (Kauaroa) Bay with Koi Island in the middle and Whakanewha Bay to the left and Kauakarau Bay to the right. The views from our large deck are truly stunning and I continue to photograph them every visit… despite having ‘000’s already in albums. Whilst the bays live up to their name of being ‘rocky’… when the tide is in they provide some of the most beautiful, calm bathing on the entire island. The heritage boat sheds are perhaps the most photographed buildings on the island.
